Information Technology (IT) Manager

Job description (internal)

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Manager to join our team!

Main duties include identifying the needs of the company, creating an IT strategy, managing a team of IT professionals, and troubleshooting technical issues.
The IT Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing our company’s computer infrastructure and related areas.
Our ideal candidates will have a strong technical background, excellent managerial skills, and the ability to translate our business needs into optimal IT solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementation of the IT strategy
  • Oversee troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provide expert support when necessary
  • Design training programs and workshops for staff
  • Managing the information technology and computer systems
  • Overseeing the planning, implementation, and maintenance of computer systems and advise on future IT investments
  • Support our ISO 27001 Information Security Management System
  • Managing and directing IT staff, including hiring and training employees
  • Conduct regular system audits
  • Ensuring information security and data protection measures are implemented and maintained in line with the Head of Security
  • Cybersecurity countermeasures in accordance with latest NCSC guidance and business updates
  • Collaborating with other departments to assess and prioritise technology needs, working with project teams to help design and implement internal systems
  • Run and share regular operation system reports with the SLT
  • Managing budgets and expenses related to IT operations and projects 
  • Recommending and implementing new hardware and software solutions 
  • Developing and enforcing IT policies and procedures 
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technology-related issues 
  • Staying up to date with industry advancements and trends to make informed decisions 
  • Providing technical support and guidance to employees and clients as needed
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: This role involves addressing key technical challenges, making critical decisions on IT infrastructure, and resolving issues that impact operations.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: The IT Manager works closely with various departments to align IT strategies with organisational goals and ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Leading and mentoring IT staff to foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, secure, compliant behaviour and high performance within the team.
  • Process Improvement and Innovation: Driving process improvements, implementing new technologies, and fostering a culture of innovation within the IT department.
  • Technical or Customer-Facing Responsibilities: Handling technical issues, providing user support, and ensuring a positive customer experience with IT services.
  • Plan, organise, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations
  • Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures
  • Ensure security of data, network access

Skills and Qualifications (internal)

The IT Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing our company’s computer infrastructure and related areas.
Our ideal candidates will have a strong technical background, excellent managerial skills, and the ability to translate our business needs into optimal IT solutions.

  • BSc in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Proven working experience as an IT Manager or relevant experience
  • Proven working experience with CE and CE+ certifications
  • Proven working experience with ISO 27001: 2013 / 2022 standard
  • Proven working experience with enterprise system implementation, management and improvements
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration [NH1] and network back up and testing
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Expertise in data management and data governance
  • Ability to manage personnel
  • Project Management experience preferable
  • Experience of systems accredited to List N preferable
  • Linux experience preferable
