Purpose of Position

To supervise a small team of process engineers to deliver engineering design packages to the required time, cost and quality and personally undertake some of the more complex design tasks as required. To provide specialist process engineering advice.


Role and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:

  • Provide specialist design services to internal/external customers.
  • Production of design deliverables (e.g. drawings, reports or calculations) to agreed standards of safety, cost, quality and time.
  • Contribute to the economic design of systems and equipment.
  • Oversee the work of others and develop the skills and abilities of others for the benefit of the company.
  • Provide advice and guidance on issues appropriate to their discipline.
  • Actively participate in the development and application of appropriate technical and managerial processes and systems in his/her work area.
  • Organise, supervise, monitor and develop the team to deliver successful outputs.
  • Identify major technical uncertainties and refer them for decision by higher authority.
  • Comply with all legislative, regulatory and company policy standards and processes applicable to the role.

Close working relationships with other Orano sites and client sites may be required, which necessitates regular travel to those sites (dependent upon project).This role is based at our Warrington or Abingdon office.

Skills and Qualifications (internal)

The Process team encourage diversity of thought and welcome applications of candidates with transferable skills that can be applied to our projects, therefore, all candidates will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Have a BEng (Hons) or MEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience as a Process Engineer, Chemical Engineer or Design Engineer on Nuclear site or a highly regulated site.
  • Chartered member of the IChemE or suitable experience.
  • Experienced in supporting the production & development of process discipline documents and demonstrating the capability to work within a team.
  • Experienced in supporting process engineering coordination tasks as part of a team, demonstrating the capability to work within a team.
  • Experience of delivering projects for Sellafield or AWE sites (desirable)
  • The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK, and be willing to obtain SC clearance. This position is for either the Abingdon or Warrington office.
