Under broad supervision, the Security and Safeguards Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of programs addressing control and handling of sensitive information including classified information, safeguards information, export control information, and proprietary information. This position is responsible for the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Fundamental Nuclear Material Control Plan (FNMCP), Physical Security Plan (PSP), and Emergency Plan

 

Objectives:

1.       Develops the Physical Security Plan (PSP), Fundamental Nuclear Material Control Plan (FNMCT), Standard Practice Procedure Plan (SPPP).

2.       Develops and implements programs addressing control and handling of sensitive information.

3.       Ensures company employees and contractors follow appropriate practices when dealing with information that requires special treatment.

4.       Provides contractor direction and oversight of all security related designs.

5.       Interfaces with Licensing for maintenance of the Fundamental Nuclear Material Control Plan (FNMCT), Physical Security Plan (PSP), and Emergency Plan.

6.       Provides input for the Integrated Schedule.

7.       Develops and maintains engineering procedures associated with protection of information

 

Skills and Qualifications (internal)

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this   opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher-level position.

  • BS in Engineering or other technical field, plus 7-10 years related experience. 
  • An advanced degree (MS or MBA) may substitute for 1-2 years and (PhD) may substitute for 2-3 years of related work experience. 
  • In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4-year engineering degree.

Differentiating Qualifications:

  • Nuclear quality assurance background and experience working with NRC.

Skills and Knowledge:

  •  Advanced knowledge of nuclear safety and quality standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering standards, techniques, and criteria.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
  • Ability to maintain and develop strong interpersonal relationships.
