The purpose of the Head of Nuclear Safety role is to manage Orano Limited’s team of nuclear safety consultants, combining technical oversight and delivery with business management and growth.
Line management of team leaders and principal consultants
Proactive engagement with external network and industry stakeholders to secure new business and grow order intake, revenue and profit for the department
Supporting the Sales & Marketing department’s business development and bidding activities, including developing nuclear safety technical aspects of bids and value propositions
Identification of resource needs, recruitment planning and undertaking recruitment interviews
Identification of the development needs of the department and proposing development plans
Management of the efficient deployment of resources of the department by working with the team leaders and Head of Operations Capability to agree allocation of staff on projects
Deliver nuclear safety case technical work on a chargeable basis including some self-delivery and checking or approving work of others.
Oversight of technical delivery for nuclear safety team and escalation point for issues
Contribute to relevant processes
Develop and maintain a discipline strategy for the nuclear safety department which aligns with the wider business strategy and account plans.
Strong background in nuclear safety cases
Demonstrated success in securing new business, specifically including nuclear safety projects
Leadership and management experience
Degree qualified, preferably with at least 10 years experience within the UK nuclear industry
Proactive in building client relationships and proposing solutions
An excellent network within the UK nuclear sector, including budget holders for nuclear safety projects
Business and commercial acumen
Ability to inspire, motivate and develop staff across a medium sized department.
Demonstrates strategic thinking and adaptability by aligning decisions with long-term organisational goals while remaining flexible to changing priorities and market conditions
The role is to be based in Warrington or Abingdon.
